Pupil Enrichment and Leadership

At Abbotts Ann Church of England Primary School we value the importance of providing our children with the opportunity to engage in pupil enrichment and leadership roles. We know that when children are given responsibilities to lead and their voice is valued that they are the very people who empower change and build a brighter future for themselves and those after them.

The opportunities on offer for pupil enrichment and leadership at our school are:

  • School Councillors
  • Faith Council and Collective Worship Monitors
  • House Captains
  • Junior Librarians
  • Eco Council

School Councillors

Abbotts Ann Church of England Primary School Council have a very important role in school. The school councillors help to lead on school improvements and make sure all pupils' voices are heard and represented. We have lots of exciting plans for this coming year which we look forward to sharing with you in due course.

Our School Council gives all the children in the school a voice through the nominated representatives that have been chosen by the children in each class.

The work of a school councillor helps to put Article 12 of the Rights of a Child by the United Nations Conventions into practice. Article 12 says:

“Children have the right to say what they think should happen, when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have their opinions taken into account.”

 Our Mission Statement:

We will attend meetings and be organised.

We will feed back to our classes and share ideas.

We will continue to work on our ‘Keep Safe’ messages, environment and charity work and ‘learning behaviours’ throughout the year.

Faith Council and Collective Worship Monitors

The Faith Council and Collective Worship Monitors play an integral role in upholding our distinct Christian character and whole school ethos at Abbotts Ann CE Primary.

House Captains

House Captains are representatives for the school House Teams Red, Yellow and Green. They will count up the total house points collected each week and share these in our celebration worship. House Captains support children within their house teams during break and lunch times and during whole school events such as Sports day, Curriculum days and other such events.

Junior Librarian

Junior Librarians are responsible for maintaining the standards or expectation, organisation and sharing their love for books and reading. The Junior Librarians will volunteer on a rotation during the break and lunch schedules during the school day. They will also arrange whole school reading events and regularly work alongside our local School Library Service.

Eco Council

The Eco Council team ensures that as a school we are making conscious and proactive decisions to plan for sustainability. They take action by working in partnership with outside organisations  supported by Eco Schools.
